On This Day 7 July 1928…

by Hamdani Amin on January 29, 2011

On this day, 11 July 1928, the Chillicothe Baking Company of Missouri sold the first packages of “sliced bread” using a slicing machine invented in 1917 by Oscar Rohwedder of Davenport, Iowa. The product was called Sliced Kleen Maid Bread.

Why does it take 11 years from patent to a full production? Seth Godin explain is not about patent and how to build or the package. The important model is how to make your ideas spread.

Seth is totally correct. What matters is that the idea gets around more than what the idea is. However, that being said, I think there is an issue with the amount of time that it takes for a patent to be approved. I think government needs to do something to decrease the amount of time to increase innovation.
