Not long ago I wrote about the same topic and after a year later it’s time to look again. It’s hard to compare or even generalize these two in the domain of micro blogging. Since for some generalist both conclude the two as a form of micro blogging but serve different audiences. But will Facebook lose to Twitter?
In my personal opinion, they’re a not competing against Twitter but rather assimilate Twitter into theirs. With more than 400 million available in Facebook as compared to 25 million in Twitter. Already 1/3 of Twitter user link Twitter into their Facebook.
Despite more new service is introduced by Twitter e.g. Twitter stories ( although other quarters think Twitter stole the ideas from Facebook), but I would consider such service is a little bit too late.
Unless Twitter can come with a new fresh ideas to make their user more engage and hook to their services than some other service may take the lead (i.e. Tumblr, FriendFeed even Microsoft thorough their OfficeTalk).

From my point of view i think Facebook will rule everytime
@Drake:I believe Twitter should position them-self as different from Facebook. Twitter should not set aside their existence as a micro blogging platform. As a micro blogging platform their is a lot more they can offer.
Very interesting post. Thanks for sharing with us.
I think there are two different entities and serve two different markets. As long as they do what they are good at i don’t think it will be a problem.
well… thanks for finding the answer to that solution.
I was looking for something that could tell me how to do this, but really did not.
Thanks for clarifying that.

I have facebook account and also the twitter’s.
Hey, I love your site, keep it coming!
If Twitter was to beat Facebook it will need to step up the game and provide more features or even games. However I think Twitter grows faster than its rival Facebook.
I don`t think services Twitter in able to assimilate bigger projects like Facebook. By the way, there are a lot of successful Facebook “clones” in the world, but I didn`t see even one Twitter “clone”.

The power of social networks is in the variety of services. And this is good that they are fighting all the time making themselves better. In this situation users will be the part that wins.
Thank you for the information!

I think Twitter can’t compete with Facebook though it poured its best. Facebook is far different from Twitter in so many ways. For an instance, Facebook has lot of interactive games that are well accepted by millions of users. You could post unlimited photos of yours. And on Alexa, Facebook ranked # 2 while Twitter landed on the # 11 spot.

I personally feel that neither facebook nor twitter can loose to the other. The reason being that both have their similarities and differences and cater to different markets or types of people. They can learn from each other to introduce new features or eliminate old ones but will not take over completely.

Facebook and Twitter are doing great in their respective fields its just that Facebook are much accepted by people because of its interaction and fun it gives. But it doesn’t mean Twitter is a loser. They are one of the main sources of information when it comes to news, celebrities, games and etc, right? So, they shouldn’t be compared because they are making their own names.

I think Facebook will eventually do better. It has more features that people enhoy and come back for.

Facebook isn’t really competing with Twitter, but if Twitter wanted to, they could develop a profile system to match facebook. I don’t think Facebook will be beat out any time soon, but the way that it will lose out, (just like myspace) is if it keeps selling ad space and developing annoying applications.

I think both are of different entity and serve different purposes. Facebook is directly competing with Google rather than Twitter. I don’t think there is no harm from each-other and can co-exists.
Good article, althogh most people fail in achieving their weightloss goals due to lack of consistency in their diet or exercise plans. I think weightloss requires constant motivation and a group support to be effective in long term despite of all the advices given in such blogs. A good article nonetheless.
I do agree with Richard Wetton in saying that facebook is obviously competing with Google. in my own opinion, I think there will be no definite time that Twitter and Facebook will become big competitors with each other for they provide separate and unique services with their respective users. Another thing is, from my observations at present, Facebook will stand on its popularity for a long period of time.
