The Fastest Way To Kill A Blog – Use Social Networking

by Hamdani Amin on May 10, 2010

I know I will be curse like hell by preposition and social media expert. But look at the bright side, maybe they don’t stay long enough and care to read this post if they came especially from social networking site.

The main culprit will be Facebook, since they’re the biggest social networking as of today. The next one would be and .

Three attributes that definitely kill any blog when it came to was:

  1. Higher bounce rate due to the none of the visitors form this networking site will take the time to read your blog let alone spend longer time at your site as mentioned by blogkori. An average of less than 10 seconds.
  2. Remember “responsive compulsive behavior”; they click, agreed, and response on everything. Eventually they get lost.
  3. Not just they suffer from “responsive compulsive behavior” but also “online repellent syndrome” in which they don’t convert into potential buyer.

Well of course, if you looking for “deaf defying traffic” than go ahead.

So surely what you are saying is, by all means have social networks pointing to a blog but don’t put any links outbound to your Twitter and Facebook etc. If you do then vistors will be driven away from your business by following these. Am I getting the commercial point here?

I absolutely agree. Social traffic won’t click your ads nor buy your products. They are there to socialize. The best traffic is organic traffic and they come from the SERPs of the search engines.

Agreed that traffic is traffic. While organic traffic is all well and good, but social networking is a must have for any website. Personally I stumble upon some great sites just by browsing and end up reading the articles on the blog instead.

When you’re in not good state and have got no cash to move out from that point, you would require to receive the loans. Just because it would aid you definitely. I get short term loan every year and feel myself great just because of it.

well its all about what you want to focus your site towards. I’m sure you can sell a great product by cutting down on social networking. On the other hand, some other sites such as blogs and content viewing thrive on social networking. In short, if you want to have more of your traffic converting to sales, its best to lay off on the social networking and focus on navigation to your shopping cart page.

I believe sometime in the future all sites will have SOME form of social networking. At the minimum reviews of your products or at least a comment section for articles. People love to know what other people are feeling on a wide range of topics. On the other hand sites which offer a reference and service will benefit from less social media clutter, wikipedia being an example.

As much as it is I don’t want to admit it – you are right. Social networking unfortunately will just increase the bounce rate for a lot of individuals. If you don’t know how to correct this problem you are always going to be basically putting your money down a drain. Thanks a lot for providing the info, you don’t see a lot of people who want to talk about this or even qualify its existence.

There are those who will say, traffic is traffic. But in the long run, what counts is quality traffic. Besides, it feels good to know people are actually “connecting” with what you said.

There is truth to this claim. Social networking sites may be good for raising awareness about the existence of your blog. But if you target people to buy products based on reviews in your blog, think again.

This is interesting considering most people swear by marketing anything and everything on social networking sites. I see social networking sites as a good way to get un-targeted traffic, and sometimes targeted traffic.

I think social networking sites will rather help your site or blogs than killing it because you can employ Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin as your medium in promoting and advertising products and services you offered. And it is what most web marketers do today.
