Write a comment, not spam. A very a short opening and direct to our main topic today.
What most bloggers are looking for is feedback that continues the discussion about the topic at hand.
If you want your comments to get you new readers, brand recognition and awareness, then you have to make them count. A comment like “excellent post” or “thank you!” won’t get you anywhere and will basically only waste your time, but the sad thing is it will waste other people’s time too.
How to write one – Think 140 chracters or words.
- Think 140 characters. In 140 characters what can you say that is not entirely rubbish. If you have been in Twitter, you simply can vouched for whom are spammer and a good tweet.
- Think 140 words. What can you say in 140 words, for some people it’s a lot. Can you summarize your thought in 140 words.
- Think 140 words again.
I think that should be enough today since today post already have 160 words.

As a fellow blog owner, I completely understand what you are saying. It is not uncommon to be bombarded with hundreds of comments that say things like “nice post” or “thanks for the info”. When commenting it is usually good etiquette to include relevant keywords from the article and add to the discuss. Actually read the article before you make a comment.
In my opnion twitter is makinag all confusing and strange.
I disagree that we need to think only in 140 characters/words. But about writing SPAM, I agree with you. These kind of comments go nowhere and have no benefits!
I don’t mind getting a bunch of “great post” and “thank you” comments as long as they are not from bloggers. Bloggers should know better. However, my blog gets a lot of visitors just looking to read my info. Most of the time, the non bloggers like to let the me know that they appreciate the post but do not want to get into a big discussion about it. That makes sense because I was like that before I had a blog. By the way, thank you and excellent post
A lot of spam comes from commenting programs that search and find blogs and post comments. I guess the key to stopping these programs would be to implement some kind of captcha phrase for spam control. Though spam will always exist.
You metioned that the character content is key what about using a keyword as name. Is considered spam it the comment is relevant to the conversation. I also agree using captcha phrase is the best way to cut down on spam.
Etiquette is a behavior that shows our manner and prospective within a society. I own a blog.. and even understand what actually you trying to say since always comments should be sweet and short with meaning.
what if someone choosing his keywords? Is it spam too?
btw… it` s a very gelpful blog. ALll SEO taker should read this.
thank you for sharing . it is very interesting . write a good article is do hard .
Yeah, I agree with that. “Thanks” and “Great post!” comments are seems to be a spam. It doesn’t contribute to the topic, we can only consider a comment if it is really hits the topic. For me also the length of the comment doesn’t matter, if only if its really hits the topic, relevant, an open idea about the topic and giving hints and suggestions and more information about the topic. That would be best ideal comment for me.

Though not only character count should be important but also the content of a comment. If the comment doesn’t raise discussion of the topic at hand, then it is useless. This all starts with the post that should also be enticing and raise proper discussion. The post should let people want to provide feedback.
I try and not focus on total letter count too much and just write whats relevant to the post. Sometimes it comes out really long but thats the sign of a good discussion. Other times. teeny weeny post

I hate weeding through so many spammy comments in a thread that has caught my attention. Some comments are short, but sweet so I can’t totally agree with your stance.
