How much does it take to start a spam business?

Well in China, it cost $700 to start a spam business.  A recent article by PCWorld, indicate with $700 you can use a server in China that lets you send all the spam you like. Nickname as bulletproof hosting and already proved to be a major problem to the people who fight spam and cybercrime.

If there is a bulletproof hosting so does bulletproof domain that can be purchase at $100. Bulletproof had been the root cause of spam, malware and malicious tools as the operators usually ignore the request to take down any domain that used for this purpose.

China has recently toughened its and arrested some alleged identity thieves. A high hopes and expectation expect these moves will presage a crackdown on bulletproof hosting.

Amazing that they can actually make a profit out of these annoying tactics. I’ve been fighting spam with SpamCop on my design website and it seemed to work — probably since none were hosted by these unscrupulous server operators.
P.S. I’ve sent a couple of shoutouts on BlogCatalog (BC) — take a look. Are you exclusively on MyBlogLog (MBL) now? I’m about to give up on MBL… prefer BC.

Only $700? That seems so cheap for all the frustration they put people through! Very interesting. And what is defined as Bulletproof?

China, sure… Do they have idea how boring they are? In India you can find similar services and servers for less than 700 USD or 500 Euro I guess. I hate these spam emails I receive every day. Instant crap delivery from China to our Inboxes every day… Mao Tze Thung, Cheers…
