A tagline is a variant of a branding slogan typically used in marketing materials and advertising. The idea behind the concept is to create a memorable phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of a brand or product (like a film), or to reinforce the audience’s memory of a product. Some taglines are successful enough to warrant inclusion in popular culture, often becoming snowclones.- Wikipedia
Many companies, however, do not have a large enough budget to hire an advertising agency. If you belong to one of these small budget businesses, do not despair. With some creativity and persistence you can develop your own tagline.
In this first step what we want to tell people is, what is our positioning statement and/or unique selling proposition. If you already have one you should write them down. By creating a tagline, your tagline should reinforce them.
You can start by asking a few questions:
The list of question is not exclusive and only serve as a guidance. You should try to get one or more of these answer inside your tag.
Rearrange your various props so you can look at them in different ways. Write down everything that comes to mind and all the new ideas each phrase sparks. It’s may not make any sense but you want a large number of ideas.
Pick those few that have the best potential. You could also or may need toreduce longer ones to fewer words.
The final step, test your tagline and ask people feedback.
You can also conduct informal research. Set up a free survey at SurveyMonkey.com and encourage people to take the survey by giving them an incentive to help you, such as a discount or small freebie.
When you are done, you will have a tagline that will help your business thrive.
