Spams are getting smart and also getting vicious and shrewed also day by day. From the many task I had to do day by day was to clean up spam comment. This need to be done manually even though I had installed triple spam filter and still some spam comment get through.
Three step to ensure pending comment is legitimate.
Although I love people to voice out their opinion at my blog, I also hate people dump their spam comment at my blog. As spammer grew smarter so do me. This is the three things to identify legitimacy of comment at your blog:
- Check their url profile. Before providing a comment we normally had to furnish three things – our name,e-mail and website. While name and e-mail is compulsory, website is optional. In the event they had supplied their website, check their website. If upon checking it actually pointing to Viagra, just delete the comment.
- Check web address provided in their comment. Some comment appear legitimate. In my cases, sometimes I received comments like “I think you’re biased in your opinion. I had put an alternative view at my blog, http://pointtoviagra.com”, of which lead to Viagra site.
- Be selective in term of valuing the comment you had received. Nowadays, if any comments had passed the initial two tests, I will ask this final question, is this comments bring any value to this post? Very often we received comment which appear to be simplistic and not providing any value (unless that is the kind of comments we expecting for) to our post despite (sometimes) the hard work and times we had put to wrote the post. The blog post that we had wrote may not be a perfect ten (due to some grammar mistake, perhaps in this post) but at least with the addition of valuable comments, its’ will add some more values. For a writer, that is the kind of satisfaction we look forward to.
I am sure you had a few experience about handling smart comment spam. I love to hear from you and of course, your comments will definitely add value to this post.
