While most of us already use the most popular blogging software available in market, we tend not to change or resist the temptation to use other blogging software (at least it’s true for me).
Currently their is more than 20 blogging software available either it’s open sources, proprietor or developer hosted. The success of each blogging software will largely depend on:
- the number of user, which highly dependent on the marketing, development and largely depend on our next point, and
- funding available, which happen to come as a result of point 1.
There are a few blogging software doesn’t make it and eventually their name will be drop from the list of blogging software. One example is bBlog, which was builds on the tradition and concepts of b2, WordPress and other PHP blog software, but is not based on the same code. It is (still) available under the GPL, which means it’s free to use, and you are free to modify and redistribute it.
bBlog is no longer actively maintained, and there are no plans to carry on with development. There was an attempt to resurrect the project, but after a year nothing has come of it. The last maintained entry was in 18 July 2005 on their release of bBlog version 0.7.6.
You still can download the software although no support will be available. Perhaps, one of this day its’ maybe resurrected again or the newsflash at their sites remain unchanged.
NEWSFLASH: bBlog is dead! Long live bBlog!
