I had introduced the concept of SU Integrity Score earlier at one of my post and how it will be the determine factors on your marketing success if you plan to use SU as a major marketing tool. It’s so amazingly tied to the necessity to have many power stumbler in your current profile.
Based on the model presented in the earlier post, I would like to elaborate more on The StumbleUpon Integrity Score Matrix. I would like also to highlight variable that will effect the matrix and their respective SU profiles:
1. No of connections. This should translate into number of friends and subscribers, the higher the better. In order to simplified this variable, let call it audience.
2. No of favorites and reviews. This will determine whether this profile is an active stumbler or not. The higher the better. As in the first one, let call this variable as votes.
Based on this variables, we can presume 4 scenario and possible score:
1. Low audience and low votes (The Blue Circle). I got a few friends under this category and they normally have less friend and less stumble.
SU profile under this category normally have very few favorites, reviews and even (not surprisingly) very few or no subscribers. In the example shown at the right, this SU profile only have 16 friends.Their last login could be weeks sometimes months.
2. High audience but low votes (The Orange Box)
. This group of stumbler treat SU as social networking more than social bookmarking recommendation services (or sites). One example I could find among my friend is this SU profile shown on the right. They only have very low favorites and most of the review done by them on any websites most likely on one of their subscriber. Since they treat SU as social networking, in this example, this profile have about 121 friends and geared toward music (spesific interest).
Not much traffic will be generated by this profiles since they might not stumble your page. Hence that explain low votes.
3.
Low audience but high votes (The Red Octagon). Based on my latest observation, the octagon type shown either one of this attribute:
- Active stumbler but most probably treat SU as link exchange where stumble will only limited to their existence audience. It is expected this kind of stumbler will only stumble your pages if your stumble their pages (either their own domain or others).
- They may not have a lot of friends because their SU profiles age maybe less than a year or month. In the example shown left, the person had joined SU on 3, December 2008 but already have about 221 friends.
In my opinion, not much traffic will be generated by this profiles now since their stumble will only be seen or read by limited audience. But I would suggest you to have a lot of this SU profiles since they will eventually be the Yellow Star.
4. High audience and high votes (The Yellow Star). This is what we might call as the gems of SU and also known as “The Power Stumbler”. After going through some of my power stumbler, I had notice they have either one of some of this characteristic:
- High number of subscribers and friends (in this example close to 300 friends)
- More than one years old SU profiles ages
- They also have a very high SU frequency, in this example, 76-77 pages per day.
In most cases, and point to notes also, power stumbler will also attract other power stumbler. This profile have more than 10 SU profiles that have a favorites more than 10,000.
Well, I think that should clear some air on the SU profiles based on SU Integrity Score Matrix. Or I may make you more confuse? You may have you own interpretation, if you have, feel free to add.
