Maybe you should just learn how to write before you start thinking you can utilize marketing tricks to become popular.
But writing pillar posts ain’t that easy.
I had a bad time writing them for my previous personal blog.

Very nice article. Guest posting in some great blogs will drive huge number of visitors and if you pick in your niche, you will definitely get subscribers too if you have great content.
Say, my blog is not dealing with news things, though techrunch deals with tech things, if I write a post there, the readers are news hungry people who may not like my blog. Say, I write a post on mashable or makeuseof, then I can expect some conversion in traffic to subscribers.
Guest posting on non niche blogs will only help in visitors for one day, not returning visitors, nor subscribers…
