How long before you blog entered the black holes syndrome? In my case two week. The next question I would like to ask, how do you identify a black holes syndrome? Well pretty easy actually.
The symptom of “The Black Holes Syndrome”
Once a while as a blogger you, you will encounter the mind block situation. Mind block situation could occur in many way but the most famous ways will always this two:
- Ideas block. You run-out of ideas to writes.
- Too long break. Once in a while you need to get a break from blogging. How you get this break from blogging will entirely depend on you. Even if you fall sick and can’t blog, this could also be count as the break you kind of or sort off, deserve it (well, I hope that doesn’t happen to you).
- You have too much commitment with other things. These commitment distract you from the actual commitment, you main blog.
What normally happen during “The Black Holes Syndrome”
Based on my observation even with popular sites even with sites like Problogger, during the “The Black Holes Syndrome” this could happen:
- You normal post drop from half to zero. If you used to post between 2 or 3 posts per day, during this time its drop to 1 post per day or zero.
- You’re dead silence. Not just no posting, but also not active in any social media activities, in short, you’re missing the normal hang-out.
- You find out that to start to write a new post will take another few days. Since you stop writing, you’ll find that to start writing again will prove to be difficult.
- You blog traffic and adsense income drop significantly. This is pertinent because adsense income will heavily depend on the number of traffic you received.
What you need to do when facing these symptom?
There a few ways to tackle this syndrome, among them as follow:
- Just write. Of course after the long break you’ll find it hard to start writing, but you need to start somewhere.
- Start again and collect all the pieces together. One good thing when you reboot, you bounce with new energy. You see thing more clearly and who know, you may ended up thinking of a new direction for your blog, beginning next January.
- Start thinking a new strategy to counter the black holes syndrome. You had experienced it thus be able to tell the bad effect of this syndrome. It’s time to think a strategy to counter offer the syndrome.
- start thinking of hiring a ghost writer in the event you encounter the same problem. When Darren Rowse when to Blog convention, Skelli keep everything run. Maybe you also need to do the same thing.
- start changing you writing schedule. By changing your writing schedule, you also change you reader expectation and reading behavior. This may take time but in due time, it will give you some space.
- start thinking on future post now. You could do it know, schedule the post and forget.
Have you faced “The Black Holes Syndrome”? How did you resolve it and what was your course of action.
This post still lack of your contribution, perhaps you find it useful or you can promote it in your own way and give a Thumb-up or some Digg.

Welcome back! I had noticed your absence in our social media circles, but thought it was a much needed vacation. Your tips are very sound. Especially during the holidays and at year-end we all have pressing commitments. Having future posts is perfect. You need to squirrel them away now though, for digging up when food for post is most scarce.

Science fiction writers imagine that black holes in the space are path to another galaxy. You might get lost in it but will find another world. As a blogger, I have been through this situation many times. My first blog, tamalanwar.com is currently on a black hole period -but I said, it’s just waiting for the more good things to be happen in the future.

I’ve been going through a bit of this lately. Of course, I have busy work to fill in the time to make it seem like I am actually doing anything. I am looking at the reboot idea.
