I recently read from Guy Kawasaki Blog, How To Change The World – “The 10/20/30 Rule Of PowerPoint” and being a business owner, I know how important is to have a great pitch techniques. While there is a rule and guide to create a great pitch, the rules of thumb always stay, get your potential customers or investors (or reader in our case) hook in 10 seconds. If you don’t get them in the first 10 seconds, you lose.
So how do you get to master that 10 seconds pitch and if you can only pick one, what tools will you use?
Twitter as the agent of change
Marcia Corner at FastCompany wrote a very good article on why Twitter can be the best training tool for this purpose in, “Can Twitter Create An Economy of Word“. Check out the full post for the explanation of each tips. The number inside the bracket stand for number of character use.
From this article I conclude a few thing:
- Practice using twitter (22). In the age of abundance information, the attention lifespan is shorter thus be brief and short will pay. So practice.
- Think of Twittering as training for an elevator pitch completed by the 2nd floor (62). At first it may be hard, once you get use to it this new found skill will be needed where being crisp sell.
- I would not give a fig for the simplicity this side of complexity, but I would give my life for the simplicity on the other side of complexity (0). The aim of using Twitter not to be simple but to be direct. For that reason instead of typing lengthy explanation, just point them to the info.
- You can effectively brainstorm without taking the lunch (55). Twitter can be a very effective tool for idea branching without the constrain of time and space.
Now get on with it. Have any conclusion to add at the comment box? (66).
This post still lack of your contribution, perhaps you find it useful or you can promote it in your own way and give a Thumb-up or some Digg.

What’s the meaning of the number (##) in your four point? Btw, somehow I was misunderstanding the title at first. I don’t see a relation between changing the world and get your audience attention, but I think I know how that related now.
Aldhis´s last blog post..Sorry, I can’t hear you!
I’m not on Twitter yet. I’ll have to go set up an account. That will give me another excuse to talk more.
