10 Reasons Why People Scared Away From Your Blog

I had found an old post by Darren Rowse on why people might leave your blog.  The study was done based on 194 reader opinion.  Based on his findings, I summarize the reason as follow:

1. Too many posts. Readers can’t keep up and feel overwhelmed. – 37 opinions.
2. Inconsistent or infrequent posts. Readers don’t know when to expect your next post. – 29 opinions.
3. Not a full RSS feed broadcast. Reader were forced to click and visit the blog, defeating the purpose of syndicating. – 25 opinions.
4. Changes direction. Author talks about things that no longer interest them. -23 opinions.
5. No original content. Too much time into reporting old news found on other blogs. – 19 opinions.
6. No fire or spark in the content.  The post is boring, negative and doesn’t make people feel good. – 16 opinions.
7. Irrelevant content. The head and tail doesn’t match.  Author writes about one topic while readers expect to see another. – 13 opinions.
8. Over confident Syndrome. The author become over confident, arrogant and goes overboard on self-promotion. – 11 opinions.
9. Its’ suck. The articles are hard to follow and to understand or grasp the point. – 11 opinions.
10. Too lengthy post. The length of your posts could kill your number of readers. – 10 opinions.

I will use this list to help me to build up my subscription levels because it’s simple, makes perfect sense and easy to follow.
