Porn sites making billion annually.  In a word and based on research, young man’s thirst for porn site and is insatiable.  Shameless but that the reality.

Behind the curtain and the red light, the porn marketer are simply brilliant.  They’re unethical and shameless but still brilliant.

These two tactics is quite controversial, unethical and questionable but had help porn site owner make a fortune and the major driving force behind billion dollar porn .

I do not condone the use of these tactics but I do condone adapting them.

Tricky Credit Card Strategy

For one several reason, you’re asked to give you credit card.  It could be age verification or $1.00 trial or both.  A few day later your credit card is charged a full one year subscription.

What they don’t reveal in the fine print is that if you don’t cancel within a few day your card will be billed.  Money for the porn owner but money lose for unsuspected customer.

So what do you do after you found out.  You ask for chargeback.  The higher the level of feeling tricked and deceive, the more higher chances you ask for charge back.

How to adapt

  1. Tell people what to expect.  Confuse customer even visitors to you , will going to complain and leave.  You can get their email even their credit card, but let them know that’s what happen after that.
  2. Create an excellent product. An excellent product or service create a lasting impression.  This thing call top of the mind shares is real.  People ask for chargeback if they don’t remember the charge.  They also do it if the charge was for a product that sucked.  So don’t suck.
  3. Give fast refund and make it super easy.  Then win them back.  If someone want their money back, give it back and give it back super fast.  5 happy customer is much better than 1 angry customer.  Then win them back by offering new product or give something free.  Do you best to make them happy, but if they don’t reciprocate accordingly, just let them go.

File Sharing Hijacking

You’re on your favorite warez site trying to download the latest software.  You click the download link and the link bring you to a area, a porn area.  Their reason is, it is just for the purpose of collecting the fees and of course you cancel anytime.

The problem is for someone that already experience the first scenario they might be a little miffed.  But if this thing widely practice then it must be working or else people wouldn’t be doing it.

How to adapt

This is what they call fusion .  In blogsphere, when we comment on other people , they will also bring traffic to our .  Their also benefited from our comment in term of authority level at Technorati.

Another cliche example is when you see movies advertised on the cups of soft drinks served at McDonald, that is also fusion .

Most recently we start to see this trend emerge in gaming industry.  In the game while you driving your race car, some of the billboard shown real advertisement.  Another good one is Second Life.

The Fusion Marketer still gives you the products/services (what you want) but also rides with his message (the advertisement).

Porn Marketer advertise one thing and giving another thing (the good old bait and switch) which is sure aggravate customer.

I’ll look into fusion and their implication at the blogsphere or normal in the upcoming post.

In the mean time, I want to brought your attention to the legitimate usage of fusion to boast your .  Have you use any?

P.S.

The Click Ring concept is also the black hat of fusion .  I click your ads you click my ad.

P.P.S.

The Website that offered that offered lead for free per month could also fall into this scheme.  Imagine those people on those lead.  How many spam do you thing they will receive?
