Yesterday, I had already introduced you to the general concept of blog key success metric.  In general, the blog key success metric look into three locus of attention:

  1. Comment
  2. Conversation

Today I want to bring your attention to all three locus of measurement  that covered both onsite and offsite audience growth, comments and conversation.  Some of this tool had been featured in Part 1 and Part 2, but in this post we elaborate further the usage of this tool to measure blog success.

Locus of -

Onsite Audience Growth Measurement Tools

  1. We had talk some of onsite audience growth that measure the baseline metric like traffic and time spent on a particular site.
One good example would be Google Analytic and . Although many favor Google Analytic than , is still an alright way to
    measure a blog’s popularity,
for one simple reason - it works for everyone. Unlike many other metrics which detect only bigger sites, has risen to fame by seemingly being able to detect very small sites, even on a per-country basis.
  2. It is important to measure the number and trend movement.  For my site, I am very interested to know how much return visitors and new visitors, where they came from, what keyword they used and what is my bounce rate.
  3. It is nice to be on the home page of Digg , you can clearly see the two points above but to on the front page of Digg may have disadvantage also.

Offsite Audience Growth Measurement Tools

Among the blogsphere, the Offsite Audience Growth Measurement Tools that frequently used were feedburner to track the number of subcribers. It is very hard to convert a Visitor into a Subscriber, someone who has now given you permission to push content to them. That extra commitment should worth a lot to you.   It better to have 1,000 subcribers than 1,00,000 million viewer.

Locus of - Comments

I think the best measurement for this locus of would be No of Comments. Yes, just plain simple. There are wordpress plugin that will enable you to see how much comments you received for a particular post.

Therefore a frequent call of action for your post and number of response will determine the key changes to your content strategies.

Locus of - Conversation

I would suggest two indicator for this locus of measurement:

1.    Search Engine Result Pages (SERP)

The first measurement look into how well your page rank in SERP, being indexed at 2-3 SERP should be a good indicator that yours’ blog a well received among the search engine.  Some people prefer to put Google Page Rank at their blog as an indicator for acceptance and performance with search engine index.

2.    Technorati

Register your blog with Technorati.  At Technorati,  your level of authority and influence so does the number of frequency, recency and sentiment will measure yours blog level of conversation within the blogsphere.

What Your Tools Of ?

I leave the discussion on what tools that effective to measure your blog performance.  I know some of the mentioned tools appear to repetetive and had been told many times. I would like to stress how is to measure yours’ blog performance since this will affect your content strategies and not to mention your blog marketing.

Can you share some of your experience, may all of us can learn from your experience.
