Who Else Wants To Be Squeeze To Last Buck By Your Own Domain Name?

Had you been evicted from your own ?
You don’t need to request or hand-over your domain name to someone else like what happen in Smith-Sevile Case.   In fact you can lose your domain because of your unintentional mistake.

Don’t think just because you’re an avid and experience internet citizen cum marketeer, you don’t have this. Every body have it.   A renown internet marketeer nearly lose his domain name to another individual will have to get back the domain through negotiation with the owner.   But sometimes you may not so lucky after all.

The current practice of web hosting providers provide “a one stop centre for all” for you to get to buy new domain name or transferred an existing ones to their hosting services.   Many also have an accredited registration licences or have an to registration companies.

So what happen if your purchase a bundle service, domain name plus hosting?   You pay for the web hosting for one year or monthly or quaterly or yearly hosting fee.   And what else happen?

  • Who get the ownership of the domain name? You get the ownership of the domain name.
  • Who will be the administered, technical and billing contact? Administration and Technical contact will be your hosting company but Billing will be you or sometimes the hosting company.   If the hosting company is the billing contact,  you pay your domain name period through the hosting company.

What happen if you fail to pay your hosting company, or you want to change your ?
If you fail to pay your hosting company
They hold on to your domain name. You can’t move your domain name until your pay all unsettled fees.   Ok, you decided for what ever reason you don’t want to pay.   If you domain name about to be expired you will meet them again.

If you want to change your web hosting company
You definitely need to change your to your new web hosting company (may be one of their competitor).   They usually charge a nominal fees. Some even charge you monthly DNS management fees.

So while you happily ever after with your new web hosting provider the old one still piggy back on you.
