How Often Do You Need To Post To Your Blog?

Ok, sometime people do ask me, how often do you make a post to your blog.   Again, I know the person not just asking about how much time needed to put into a blog but also he also actually asking what kind level of persistence is require is needed before you can see some result coming.

Well my answer is simple, it depend on what type of blog you maintain. Why don’t you ask yourselves this question,what is the cycle time between new and old at your blog subject. Tech related blog may seen new technologies emerges everyday or every month or quarter, half yearly or maybe yearly.  While other type of blog may see new thing happen daily or once or a while.

By all mean, the finding presented here is not exclusive.

Teresa Boardman at The Real Estate Tomato think you should post at least once a week if you want to be favor by search engine, to maintain your readership relationship and to create a constant momentum.

Catriana Pollard at Small Business Pr and Marketing, think you should update your blog once a week or every two week. She think it will entirely depend on your reader behavior.   Some may not even have the time to read your blog if so frequent.

Karen Greenstreet at Self Employment Expert and Small Business Coach, “The quality of the post, and the fact that you post regularly, are more important factors than some arbitrary number of posts per week. If you’re going to fill your blog with fluff in order to hit your daily posting requirement, don’t bother. That’s worse than not posting at all.”.

As a general good consideration, I think there is no clear cut guideline on how often you should update. Mostly think a readership relationship need to be maintain by regularly updating your blog at least every fortnight.   Darren Rowse in an interview with Jack Humphrey in partial agreed to this approach.

But like what Karen Greenstreet say in her blog, the decision to update or not lies at your own discreation since its’ your own blog.   I had found a few good reasons not to update my blog as frequent as possible which I also use sometimes and it always work like clock wise. At least to kill my guilty concience.
