How Long Do I Take To Write A Blog.

Darren Rowse had recently  post a research question to find out how long normally a blog post take.  Well let see.

First there is the idea generation phase.  This could be from many sources.  I’ll always want to know what are the buzz around, so normally I go to www.b5media.com.  B5 Media is a global blog network that consist of 350 blogs, 12 vertical channels and over 10 million unique visitors a month.  The topics is way ahead of MSN, Yahoo and Google, sometimes 2 or 3 day ahead.  I spend around 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Second the research phase.  Some link provided in the post that I had read.  Some I need to look else where.  I use google to do my research.  Google still an excellent research tool.  So for this activities I have Building Research Tools with Google For Dummies a handy tool to do my research. another 30 minutes to 1 hours.

Third the writing stage. Sometimes I write offline draft first (lately my internet connection is so bad sometimes I think the world wide web is really the world wide wait).  But if research had been done properly  this could take between 30 minutes and 1 hours.

The last stage review and adding the additional.  I only add the picture or the additional after I finish the write.  Sometimes just none.  Adding picture and the additional must synchronize with the post.  Incorrect additional tend to kill the mode of the post.  This normally take between 15 minutes and 30 minutes.

If you sum the time, from end to end, normally a post would take somewhere between, 1 hours 45 minutes to a full 3 hours. I spend about 1 hour 45 minutes for this post.  I thinkas you write more and more post the process from end to end will get shorter.
