Since the dispute between WIPO and Saville-Smith, there is another domain names suddenly became a hot cakes – Transformers.
The Transformers become under the limelight again last week after Shia LeBouf allegedly arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, in short drunk driver. Then came the exclusive from Micheal Bay saying the opposite.
All of these hype had drawn a massive intention to the domain name, Transformers and their variation, The Transformers. Transformers, where name used by the tv series while The Transformers, where first used in 1986, for the animated movie.
Dreamwave Production had marketed the series as Transformers. Since then, Transformers was used in all Transformers products, including the live action film produced in 2007, Transformers that grossed US$708 million worldwide.
Hasbro, hold the exclusive right to Transformers brand. A search at Namecheap.com indicate, Hasbro hold the right for the domain name transformers.com and transformers.us.
But the variation, thetransformer.com and thetransformers.us, which indicate the domain belong to US or international community did not belong to Hasbro. A few of the domain variation ending with dot.me, dot.mobi and dot.ca, still available for grab. The latest domain thetransformers.us had been registered on the 29 July 2008.
It is expected with the up-coming movie on Transformers sequel, which will be release on June 2009 (tentatively), these available domain extension would be a hot cakes for grab.
Well, it seem another WIPO sequel on the horizon.
