How Google and Yahoo kill my blog.

I thought that I want to add some interactive to my . To make it more sizzle and interesting.  I read it somewhere, the more interactive the the longer people stay at your .

My OddCast AvatarFor quite sometime, I had open an  account with Oddcast, the company provides online taking avatar on any website. It’s free basic account.  The avatar choice is limited and not as sassy as those avatar your saw at yuwie.com.  If your upgrade your account, you can even get an avatar that look just like you.

So I install my first talking avatar.  Since I want my avatar to greet all those that visit my blog instead embed the avatar into my , I choose to make my avatar appear in a pop-up window every time someone visit my website.  And how silly I am, I also make the pop-up could not be resize and close (double dose killer).

Free Image Hosting by FreeImageHosting.netI notice from my analytic account, that my website traffic begin to drop.  It continues to drop up to a point that I only received only 4 to 5 visit unique per day.  The bounce rate became so high and the number of visitor also drop.  At one point, the application disabled access to my website.

I decided to take the application out and recheck my back.  The traffic increase back their normal daily visit.

Talk about pop-up hater, I think Google and Yahoo make their point clear.  I had not yet decide to put the application at my sidebar because I read it somewhere, if your website require some plugin in order to view the website, people just run away.  I guess I should find out before putting to much candy.
